In September of 2008 Lehman Brothers filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. To date, this remains the largest bankruptcy in US history, with the company holding $691 billion in assets. The company is expected to emerge from bankruptcy soon, having restructed its large amounts of debt.
During its bankruptcy, Lehman Lehaman was represented by 33 different law firms. Among them were Bingham McCutchen; Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle; Jones Day and Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges. The two largest bills belonged to Alvarez & Marsal which collected $512 million in fees and Weil Gotshal & Manges which has collected $383 million in fees.
