Central District of California bankruptcy filings were down for April 2012. According to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, bankruptcy filing has decreased 24.5% compared to April 2011. The greatest decline in filing for bankruptcy was found in Riverside/ San Bernardino counties and the smallest decline was in Orange County.
- Riverside/ SB counties had 2,771 filings compared to 3,777 a year ago, a 26.6% change.
- Orange County had 1,385 filings compared to 1,639 a year ago, a 15.5% drop.
Although the rate of decline is higher in other counties than in Orange County, other surrounding counties still have more total monthly bankruptcies.
Orange County was one of the many areas affected by real estate and construction, which made 2010 the peak year for bankruptcy filing in Orange County.
Although the economy may be getting better and fewer people are filing for bankruptcy, there are still a number of people who are struggling with debt.
